Experiments

Picture

The Experiments team designs and assists in the creation and implementation of randomized experiments that relate to international peace, law, and development. Completed experiments include an examination of compliance with international financial law that is forthcoming in Global Shell Games (Cambridge University Press among others), which was covered in The Economist in fall 2012. Several other global field experiments are in progress addressing questions about foreign aid, non-governmental organizations, and financial investment. We are also working closely with other scholars including Dan Nielson and Helen Milner  to encourage more randomized field experiments within international relations, including holding conferences in Park City, UT in 2012 and Princeton University in 2014. Finally the team is pressing for greater attention to the role of preregistration of research projects, including a proposal for a pilot registry in political science.
